The ZAN 1 and 2 (zero net artificialization) laws have caused a stir among elected officials from local authorities. Senators have listened to them and are proposing an amending law, which was adopted by a majority of the upper house.

On Thursday evening, the four senators from the Loire region, Cécile Cukierman (PC), Jean-Claude Tissot (PS), Hervé Reynaud (LR), and Pierre-Jean Rochette (Radical Party), joined forces to explain to elected officials from the Loire region's local authorities the proposed law, known as the Trace law (Trajectory for reducing artificialization in concert with local elected officials).
